ABA Grinding Technologies GmbH

ABA is a company which produces about 100 machines annually. The sales of their high-quality machine tools are a success worldwide. ABA has united with the company “ELB-Schliff GmbH” and they work under the name “AUTANIA Grinding Technologies”. Both companies belong to AUTANIA AG, which is a corporation for machine tools that belongs to the “Dr. Helmut Rothenberger” Group. This group is active in more than 30 countries.

The History of ABA

The company ABA was founded in 1898 in Aschaffenburg. The name ABA comes from their original name, which is “Messwerkzeugfabrik Alig & Baumgärtel Aschaffenburg”. At the beginning, they mainly produced measuring equipment and wrought iron. In 1933 the focus of their production moved towards precision grinding machines and measuring machines. Today the company is called “ABA Grinding Technologies GmbH” and focuses exclusively on the production of precise grinding machines for surface and profile grinding.

Products from ABA

Their products are divided into the following product ranges: Smartline; easyGrinder; ECOLine; Planmaster RT/HP; Twinmaster; Multiline/Powerline; MicroCut-4; PSM/SLM/IPC32-2; and Rotary H/V/VS. Modular machines are pre-configured as standard machines for a wide range of applications. The Smartline standard machine is used for moulding and producing tools, machine construction, service areas, and for teaching and research. The advantage of these machines is that they are easy to control and steer, have good levels of long-term accuracy, and are excellent value for money. Their machines' individual components have proved themselves over the years. The machine beds and pillars are produced out of microgranite. A simple SPS-control is used for surface grinding. The easyGrinder 5 model was conceptualised for teaching and training, tool construction and shaping, as well as maintenance operations. The Ecoline linear drive product range has an automatic vertical feed. These precision machines significantly reduce the processing time for tools; the most difficult shapes can be quickly ground on these machines. The gantry-type Planmaster RT model is used to completely finish workpieces in one session. These machine tools are equipped with a round table and undertake turning, grinding, milling and drilling. Ball bearing races and turbine casings are typical workpieces produced with this machine. This machines operates using 4 to 5 axles.

The Twinmaster model is a gantry-type surface and profile grinding machine. Tools with large dimensions can be processed with high precision and good cutting performance. The Multiline/Powerline model is good for large grinding widths. The Micro-Cut 4 machine, equipped with an indexing table, can be used for creep-feed grinding turbine blades. The PSM and Rotary models are production grinding machines.
