General product information about the line from the production plant
- the production capacity of the plant may vary depending on the quality and dimensions of the wood used
- produced in this company the following dimensions for the raw material: thickness:45/50 mm and width: 92/110/127 mm
- the largest quantities were for the 45 x 92 mm section, which after splitting resulted in 4 lamellas of 19.5 mm (of 92 mm) x 41.2 mm (of 45 mm)
- in this case, the daily average (3 shifts/day) was 210 cbm of finished product/day.
- the planing and splitting loss varied between 18.1% and 22.4% depending on the dimension of the wood and the splitting pattern

GOLDENEYE
detection and description of wood defects spruce
the following specifications apply to a cross-section of 52 x 68 mm and a feed speed of 450 m/min
knots: detection of knots with diameter >6.0 mm (standard deviation 2.5 mm)
detection of:
- black knots
- Healthy knots
- drop-out knots
- wing knots
cracks:
- detection of width of cracks; width> 0.4 mm, length >25.0 mm; angle crack in longitudinal direction of width not > 30 degrees. The depth of the cracks is not detected.
resin pockets:
- detection of resin pockets with width > 3.00 mm and length of > 25.00 mm or in the case of a roundish shape with diameter> 20.00 mm.
- the detection is carried out with a combination of laser scatter method and colour cameras. The resin pockets must not be filled with sawdust.
forest edge:
- detection of forest edge with width and thickness > 2.0 mm and length 25.0 mm.
- the detection is done by 3D laser image processing.
damage of edges
- detection of damage to edges with width and thickness >2.0 mm and length>25.0 mm.
- detection is done by 3D laser image processing.
blue stain
- detection of severe blue stain area> 10 mm; length 100 mm.
- detection is done using the colour camera with sufficient contrast compared to the average wood colour.
browning:
- detection of heavy browning area>width 10 mm: Length 100 mm.
- detection is made by means of the colour camera with sufficient contrast compared to the average WOOD COLOUR: There may be confusion between tan and box.
pith:
- detection of pith height width > 5.0 mm and length 50 mm.
- detection is made with the aid of the colour camera when there is sufficient contrast compared to the mean wood colour.
bark inclusion:
- detection of bark inclusion with a width of >3 mm and a length of < 25 mm or in the case of a roundish shape with diameter > 20.00 mm.
- detection is carried out using a combination of laser scatter techniques and colour cameras. this approach drastically reduces false alarms. the signal from the colour cameras checks colour contrasts and thus determines the dimension of the bark inclusion
over-under width:
- width measurement with standard deviation of 0.3 mm averaged over a length of min. 15.0 cm.
- the width is measured independently on the upper and lower side, the measurements are carried out with a resolution of 0.15 mm.
over-under thickness:
- thickness measurement with standard deviation of 0.3 mm averaged over a length of min. 15 cm.
- the board thickness is measured independently on the top and bottom side. the measurements are carried out with a resolution of 0.15 mm.

spindle arrangement U-R-L-Saw-U-O-U-O
special spindle arrangement for lamella production for centre layer production
- B=70-160 mm/230 mm
- H=40-70 mm
- L=1000-5100 mm
- finished lamella= 15-52 mm
raw material (wood edged to width)
the lumber is edged in such a way that no residual piece remains in the machine when it is ripped open.
feed rate depends on the available, motor power is adjusted for each width class. Feeding butt to butt.
2. types of production depending on input material and lamella dimensions
1) sawing-U-O-U-O
2) all spindles in operation.
