Manipulators are needed whenever heavy loads have to be moved from one station to the next. Manipulators can often be used again after thorough inspection and maintenance. The weak point of a manipulator are its bearings. They should be constantly monitored and replaced, if necessary. Heavy-duty manipulators are usually hydraulically operated. These must also be regularly inspected. There are a number of specialist companies focussed on manipulators, who can take used components and modify them to the level of cutting-edge technology. This is particularly the case with sensors. A used manipulator can be implemented for small or medium-sized factories to increase efficiency.
